as the month ends

Well I didn't do the best I could this month (#45). I had two more recipes and I only really did one (cheeseygooeyhotsausagedip). Alas. Tonight's the last night I got, but I highly doubt I'll have time to cook up a recipe with all of the running around and last minute junk before the trip.

The new-to-me band (#87) changed to the Fratellis. They have a song in an iPod commercial ("Flathead"). They're like a lot of the Post-Strokes bands, but with a little bit of an edge...good stuff!

I surprised with John (#17) with some apology flowers the other week...eh, long story ;) Orange daisies and lime green mums...they match his house!

I worked on another work concept project (#85): designing the convention booth. My ideas won't make it into the final look, but at least I tried right? :)

And finally, I completed the first third of my Pilates 30 Day Challange (#40)! Unfortunately, I am about to embark on a trip sans pilates and full of plenty of calories. I'll have to work double time once I get back!

And that's all I got! June plans TBA....

bottles of diseases

A long time ago in a warehouse far away, I coined the phrase "bottles of diseases"...as in: "I'm going to start throwing bottles of diseases at the next person who pisses me off." That was in my angry days as a disgruntled Roundy's advertising employee. I'm much more sane nowadays...but today's events here at work reminded me so vividly of that phrase and the way I used to fly off the handle. Welcome to my dark side?

In any case, not too much to report listwise. I'm so unorganized it hurts sometimes. For example, I forgot to pay my license plate renewal and three days after the expiration date, I had a $50 ticket in my cardoor from our lovely Milwaukee Parking Nazis. It's like whenever I'm unorganized for one second, it bites me in the ass tenfold.

But I have been faithful to my 30 Day Pilates Challenge (#40)!! And oh man, it's sooooo good. I leave work around 11:30am 4/5 days of the week, take a relaxing walk home accompanied by itunes, pilate (verb?) for 20 minutes and then lift some weights for another five, if time allows I take an invigorating shower, then of course there's the semi reluctant walk back to work. Sigh. But I always feel really good for the rest of the afternoon! My plan worked, I'm so happy!! Plus it forces me to "take a lunch" which I never used to do. I'd take mini breaks throughout the day to email and such, but never the full hour of lunch time. It breaks up the day nicely and lets me decompress. Anyway, I'm up to 7/30 so that's sweet.

Haha! Speaking of walking, I just got a funny email from this new work organization to try and "Go Green" this summer. It said that, this Friday, everyone who bikes into work gets to meet at Alterra for coffee and smoothies and come into work a half hour late. I made a comment that those of us who WALK will get into work an hour early per usual. Oh and those who get into work a half hour late (bike or no bike) will continue to get into work a half hour late per usual.

Recipes (#45): I made that eggplant pasta sauce...delish! But I only have a week and a half left (until I go on vacay) for two more recipes, so I gotta get crackin! But I fulfilled my eggplant duty as well (#50)

I also went to a new-to-me Milwaukee restaurant (#30): Emperor of China. I had the Orange Peel Crispy Beef DIES!!!!!! It was so good...the orange zest pieces totally made the dish.

And finally, I got my first of 4 volunteering duties done on Monday when John, Mandsi, Nicole and I helped with lunch at St. John's (#78)

Here's to a better rest of the week and putting away all my bottles....

doin stuff feels good

And luck was had! I accomplished SO MUCH this weekend!!! I was on a mission like you wouldn't believe and was able to cross pretty much everything off my little to do list (um, a separate one from below). I also had a minor setback, but hopefully it'll smooth itself out soon enough.

In any case, below are the four big accomplishments for the weekend:

• Church AND I finally registered as a member there! I've been going to the Easter Vigil for 15 years, and then going more regularly for the last couple years, since I moved into my new apartment. So that's pretty exciting!

• Organized my projects list (#61), and decided to change a couple more of the things on the 101 List:
-#6 Chicago scrapbook: I've got too many scrapbook situations on my hands, so I'm changing this one to a creative project TBA (I have many ideas floating around)
-#52 Black/brown boots: Eh, I'm over this sorta (maybe because of the summer?) So I shall replace with splurging on an expensive pair of heals or sandals...not your typical Target/Payless/Target uncomfortable $20 pair. So I'll be on the lookout there!
-#78 Inspirational notes: I don't have anything inspirational to say that hasn't been said already, SO I'll replace with Volunteer at St. John's Open Door Cafe 4x. I've already volunteered twice, but I won't count those. My "first," then, will be next Monday with my sis, John and Nicole.
S0! Now I'm on 5/10 for replacements with 906/1001 days left. Yipes. But you've gotta expect to streamline the list a bit over time. I mean your interests change and everything. I'll probably cheat down the line and bend the rules, but rules are meant to be bent.

• And speaking of bending, PILATES!! I finally got started on my 30 day challenge (#40)! I rewatched my dvd, and rewrote all the exercises...then actually DID them. I'm feelin' it today, but it feels good! I've got an extra skip in my step or something. I'm heading home during lunch today to see how the midday work out...uh, works out

• And last but certainly not least, I FINISHED #94 Atlas Shrugged!!! I seriously wish I could remember when I started it, I mean I remember starting it, but have no reference point as to when it was. In any case, it's a wonderful novel with some seriously thought provoking ideas...definitely got my mind working! My next novel won't be as dense though ;)

Other updates:
45. Recipes 1/4
I made a delicious Thai chicken dish with cabbage, carrots, onions and red pepper along with some coconut rice and peanuts...totally MADE the dish!

I might have to forgo #10 26 Things due to my crazy hectic schedule and a quarter of the month being taken up by the INKYTNMO trip. Sigh. Maybe next time. Or perhaps I can just fake do the list for June and post them for myself. Blah.

Alright, it's about 11:00 now and I'm off to get some Pilates on!

may day! may day!

Don't ask me about my To Do List...just don't.

So it's May 1st, I'll update the remainder of April and tell you my various May picks.
10. Photograph seasons
I went out in the rain last week and took a bunch of "droplet" pictures...but only a couple turned out:

But then, THIS cool thing happened...back in January, I took a picture of this lady walking in the snow with an umbrella and her pink coat. Well, whilst taking pictures of various raindrop coated foliage, I spotted her again...yet this time, sans umbrella??? What are the odds?!

10. 26 Things
And speaking of photography, the list for May 26 Things is up!! I'm going to recruit Nicole to get 'er done!

21. Blu
John and I DID go back to Blu and chat with John the Bassist!! This was part of our Fabulous First Date on Friday. Prior to the date, I was surprised by a delivery of beautiful flowers to my office. Then John took me to Balzac for dinner and surprised me with tickets to the Milwaukee Rep. We finished off the wonderful night at Blu where he secretly chatted with John the Bassist and requested "My Funny Valentine" (the song we used to request way back in the day). After the band's set, JtB sat with us and told us about his possible new house and how we better take ballroom dance lessons or else! Crazy fun!

45. Recipes 5/4
The other "half" of my recipe for April was 'World Famous' Tuna Melts from the ol' Rachael Ray cookbook. It incorporated artichoke hearts, so that takes care of the 50. Atypical Food for April as well as 46. Christmas Cookbooks 5/50
Last night I guess I went above and beyond and made Pretzel Coated Fried Chicken with a Cheesy Mustard Sauce a la Rachael Ray. Delish!!

51. Guilty Pleasure Food
Thank the lord that sweet bakery is finally over. And as a final blow, someone brought in a bunch of brownies yesterday. Thanks. I was going to save one, but eh, that might be cheating. INSTEAD my lovely coworker Nicole is sharing her blueberry muffin with me as we speak! Rock.

50. Atypical Food - May
Eggplant! I found a way tasty recipe for roasted eggplant and garlic. I hope eggplant is in season? (July - Oct...eh, good enough for me)

51. Guilty Pleasure Food - May
Candy. Any candy except dark chocolate. So I can still have dark chocolate kisses ;) But other than that, no no no candy.

87. New Band - May
I want to look into Sounds Under Radio this month

Ok that's it! Alright, I took a gander at my To Do List. I DID take a few spring photos, so that's done. I don't have TOO much going on this weekend...I'm not going out Friday or Saturday, so I'll take that time to revamp my organizization. Wish me luck ;)
